Trent Baalke enjoys taking time to talk with the media.
Earlier today, the San Francisco 49ers announced that they have given general manager Trent Baalke a contract extension through 2016. This is a well-deserved extension after the season the 49ers produced in 2011.
I am happy for Baalke because despite criticisms when he was hired to become the general manager, he stuck with what he knew and it worked out. I admit that I didn’t expect much from Baalke this year but he proved many doubters wrong.
With his new contract today, it got me thinking about my experiences with Baalke and I wanted to share some of it with you.
They wore these throwbacks all the way to the Super Bowl.
As you know, I am a geek when it comes to team uniforms. Every uniform tells a piece of history and adds to the staple of a team’s identity. And growing up as a 49ers fan, I had always appreciated the team’s simple usage of their red and gold on their set.
Then in 1994, my eyes were opened to a new/old uniform set that blew my mind.
That season, the NFL celebrated their 75th anniversary and teams had the option of wearing throwbacks during that season. The 49ers decided to wear a set from the 1950s and it was something I was not ready for.
