Another episode of the rich and racist courtesy of Lil Wayne

This is the Lil Wayne I remember. Whatever happened to him?

So if you haven’t heard the news, rapper Lil Wayne asked the Oklahoma City Thunder for a seat courstide for Game 3. The team said that the seat was unavailable. Then Wayne tweeted this:

Kevin Durant and James Harden offered to get him tickets but instead, Wayne decided to make it a bigger deal than it should have been.

”That’s not the point, though,” he told The Associated Press in an interview Friday night. ”It’s the players stepping up but of course the players aren’t white. I don’t want to be sitting there on behalf of you and I’m sitting next to a (person) that’s like `I don’t want this (guy) sitting next to me.’ (Forget) you . . . I’m in Forbes,” he said, laughing.

There’s a lot of wrong on Weezy’s part in this. First, the team gave no indication of racism. They said those seats weren’t available. Assuming Wayne wanted those seats for free, the rapper could have just paid for them — after all, he is rich.

Also, if Wayne was a local celebrity, maybe it would have been different. But since he isn’t, why would the team give away free tickets to anyone that has no affiliation with the team or city?

Then he brings up the case of racism. I don’t think that’s the case. It’s just Wayne realized that he was wrong and is trying to find some way out of it. But instead he goes out and calls it racist.

I’m not rich and don’t envision myself ever being rich like Wayne. But I would imagine a part of him remembers growing up in New Orleans and scrapping to make ends meet. Now he’s one of theĀ privileged and he doesn’t remember how lucky he is. This rich people problem mentality just shows me that the success has gotten to him and he believes he’s bigger than everything else.

Great job Weezy! I already wasn’t a fan of your new look/style since you moved away from your Hot Boys days, but now this just makes me not like you anymore. You said that “Gs move in silence like lasagna” — well this would have been the perfect case of you doing just that and keeping your mouth shut.
