This Sunday could be the last time we see Ray Lewis on the field in the NFL. The 17-year veteran announced that he will be retiring at the end of the season.
It’s hard to imagine the NFL without Lewis, but at the age of 37 and injuries catching up, this is something that isn’t a surprise. Even though he’s been hurt, every time he’s on the field, he’s been intimidating. He has collected over 2,000 tackles and has been the cornerstone of a very good Ravens defense.
Looking back at Lewis, I cannot imagine any other defensive player of this era that has been more dominant and more consistent. I am so lucky to have seen this future Hall of Famer play football.
After watching the above documentary on him, I really want to see him win one more title. He deserves it despite all the ups and downs he’s been through. He’s a great leader and someone that I think all middle linebackers should look up to.
Congratulations on a great career. I do hope that Sunday isn’t your last go around. But if it is, thank you for giving us fans everything.
