Remember back in the 1990s when having animated images of players on your shirt was the fashion? Wearing something like that embodied the decade but also showed your dedication to a team or player.

Has that fad returned?

I recently went to a sports store and saw this Sonics shirt. It cracked me up because it featured the starting five of the Sonics that went to the Finals and the cartoonish/video game design looked really silly. It looked so silly that I wanted to get one. If they had a Warriors one, I’d jump all over it.

It’s a great design and I wonder if there are more shirts. I did my research and the answer is yes and yes. Check out this Warriors one! This 8-bit design is really neat.

Then it made me wonder if animated shirts would translate to other sports. The answer is yes!

I think this particular design is inspired by Pharell.

Either way, it looks like it’s hip and happening in sports to get animated shirts now. I am all for it. It’s creative and funny. And some of these animated faces look like the real person.
