Take two: Re-evaluating my stance on the Warriors sleeve jerseys

It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t that bad either. It’s still a work in progress.

I’ve been pretty harsh on the new Warriors sleeve jerseys/striped shorts since they announced it. But now after watching a thrilling game against the Spurs, I now am rethinking my stance on it.

Was I influenced by the win? Or was it not as bad as I thought it would be?

My first though was that watching on TV, from a distance, it doesn’t look bad. The fact that I have played basketball against shirts makes the sight not that unfamiliar. The contrast from a distance works. I can accept that. The Warriors wearing something like this isn’t too bad.

The problem still remains with the details up close. The striped shorts and mismatching colors really make it hard to take in. The fact that the two fabrics don’t match make this set still a very ugly uniform. It’s not as bad, but it still isn’t good.

This is a first for Adidas and I wonder now that they’ve seen it in action, how they are going to improve it. I can move forward in my life and see other teams wearing sleeve jerseys. But if the details are going to be flawed, it’s still a work in progress and a long way before it makes any kind of aesthetic sense.

I still like tanks and I would prefer the NBA stays that way. But if they are going to move in this direction, I hope that it gets better.
