If you haven’t heard, the competition committee is reviewing the possibility of eliminating the “Tuck Rule” from the rulebook. The above video will be a refresher for you all.
There are a few obvious things from this game. First of all, by interpretation of that rule, the call on the field was correct. But if you watch it closely, Tom Brady might have had both hands on the ball, thus negating a passing motion. Second of all, it wasn’t a pass. It was a pump fake but because of the wording of the rule, the Patriots got off the hook.
This game was the deciding point for the Patriots’ dynasty of the last decade. The Raiders would have one more good season after this game and would struggle ever since.
