ESPN is holding a baseball uniform tournament and the seeding is all wrong

Vote as your heart desires!

EDIT: 10:12AM — The second round is already up.

Check out the uniform contest ESPN is holding right now. They’re ranking all MLB uniforms and putting them against each other in a tournament style bracket.

The idea is fine and the concept actually is pretty unique, but the seeding has me all confused left and right.

First of all, why do the Tigers and Cardinals have first round byes? What criteria got them that spot? Is it just tradition and looks? I don’t think the Tigers set is stronger than the Yankees. The Cardinals maybe, but no free passes for either teams please.

How are the Astros a 4-seed going against the Orioles the 13-seed? It’s the other way around. The Astros are too plain and too new to deserve a high seeding.

The Jays (7) and A’s (10) matchup is completely unfair. I actually believe the Jays should be at No. 2 seed at lowest. And the A’s are not the 10th best looking uniform in baseball. These two in my opinion are two of the best and they should not be a first round matchup. And I think the Jays deserve to win the whole thing.

The Padres as a 15-seed is fair. The Marlins as a 13-seed is also fair.

The Dodgers should be the top seed in my opinion. They have a classic look that combines the red, white and blue perfectly. Cannot beat that.

This is just a fun thing so don’t take it seriously. After all, fan voting means absolutely nothing in sports.
