I have never played football in my life other than the occasional flag football game. I also covered the 49ers as a writer on the sideline for three seasons. But according to 49ers running back LaMichael James, I am not qualified to cover football because I never played the game.
Obviously that logic doesn’t work because there aren’t enough former NFL players that would be able to do a journalist’s job, let alone know what to do, how to interview and more importantly, how to write.
I’m sure he doesn’t mean it that way and maybe it was just one reporter that got on his nerves, but it’s still a crazy assumption. Would he boycott the media now? Here are some reactions to this on Twitter:
