Rams COO Kevin Demoff wants the Cardinals to sweep World Series for benefit of his own team

The 2013 World Series kicks off tonight and it looks to be a very good matchup that could go the distance. All baseball fans would like to see that. However, St. Louis Rams COO Kevin Demoff doesn’t want it.

Sure, he wants the Cardinals to win. But he wants them to win via the sweep. Why so specific?

If the World Series enters a fifth game, that game will be played in St. Louis this Monday — the same Monday the Rams would host the Seahawks in their first Monday Night Football game in forever it seems. And given that the Rams are already without starting quarterback Sam Bradford for the rest of the season, the last thing the Rams want is to have less attention on them that night when the stage is supposed to be theirs.

So a Game 5 in the World Series would mean most of St. Louis and probably America will be focusing on the World Series. The fans in St. Louis will most likely not be paying attention or even attending the Monday Night Football game unless they are die-hard Rams fans. A sweep would avoid this situation.

After all these years, the Rams finally get a Monday Night Football game and their neighborhood team’s success could put a sour note on it.
