My 2015 NFL season predictions

Pack and Pats at Super Bowl 50? That’s what I see.

Here are my predictions for the 2015 NFL season. Of course, like all other predictions out there, it’s just my guess and you can argue with it as much as you want. I could be right or I could be very wrong.

Here it is.

Sharks apparently going to wear inaugural season throwbacks according to leak

The Sharks’ inaugural uniform set was really good. In fact, it was so good I kind of wish they were around. Well, it looks like they could be coming back according to this leak.

Aside from the collar with the league logo, it looks nearly exactly like what they wore back then.

As the Sharks are celebrating their 25th year in the league, something like this makes sense and it works out real well. Good job, Sharks.

20 years ago today: Cal Ripken saved baseball by becoming the new Iron Man

I was nine when this day happened. I didn’t even know much about baseball, let alone the league had a strike that season. I remember my P.E. teacher talking about it and telling us to go home and watch the game because it was important. I didn’t know why it was important. I didn’t even watch it.

It happened. I saw a newspaper clip about it and that’s it.

Twenty years later, I look back at this moment and smile. I am a huge baseball fan now. Way bigger than what I was 20 years ago. I didn’t start getting into baseball until 1998 and that was when we had the big home run chase by Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. So by then, the moment had passed.

Do the Islanders really have to go black & white?

I get it. New home means new unis. Those unis should match the uniform of the arena’s other resident. But somehow, I feel this is so forced.

The Islanders had a black jersey a couple seasons ago and nobody liked it. Yet somehow, adding a new black one seems like a good idea. I don’t think so. I wish the team could stick with their colors of blue and orange. I know they want to commemorate their new home, but I don’t if this is the way. Especially since black just doesn’t fit well into any of it.

We know for sure that they will wear black but the above jersey is only speculation. Either way, I really don’t like this at all. I prefer they bring back the fish sticks jersey instead.

Somehow out of all this, Tom Brady is the underdog who won

The Patriots, for the most part, are a team that nobody likes outside of Massachusetts. Yet somehow when they had to fight against an entity that is more hated — the commissioner — the Patriots are the underdogs.

Sure, the Patriots cheated but in a sense, they still were being hunted down by the guy nobody likes. Tom Brady is one of those people that just seems to have everything right go for him. So when Roger Goodell decided to go after him, Brady somehow turned into the underdog.

With the decision to lift the suspension, Brady is the bad guy that you cheer for. He’s the Heath Ledger’s Joker and Goodell is the boring Batman. In a way, the attempt at justice seemed too boring and the people wanted a renegade.

Still, Goodell will always be public enemy No. 1 in the league no matter what. Even when he attempts to do the right thing and correct the wrongs of the league, his recent failures will cloud his image. He didn’t have to try to take out Brady. Now that he did try to fix what was wrong and failed, his image as the bad guy grew. Brady, the guy nobody really liked, somehow is the one we’re cheering for.

Eddie DeBartolo has got to get into the Hall of Fame this time, right?

For years Eddie DeBartolo Jr. has been close to enshrinement into the Hall of Fame but has always been left out. I thought that his chances of getting in were getting slimmer. He’s been a presenter for some of the inductees and those men have called for his enshrinement as well.

Now as he is a finalist for the contributor category, there is a good chance he gets into the Hall of Fame. He helped lead the 49ers dynasty with five Super Bowl titles and had such a major influence during that time period. When talking about owners in the NFL, DeBartolo is one of the greatest — if not the greatest.

He made major contributions to the league and to the 49ers. The way he handled the team and the success is unmatched and I am still shocked he’s not in. But now with this news, there is a good chance.
