Last year I attended WrestleMania and it was a glorious experience. The entire show was a great spectacle. But this year’s show has a lot of work to do. With so many injuries, the card isn’t as impressive. The company is trying to sell the fans on storylines, but it will be up to the performers to make it work. Here are my predictions for the show.
Kickoff Pre-show: ANDRE THE GIANT MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL — Expected to move to main card
– Braun Strowman, Erick Rowan, Bray Wyatt, Mark Henry, Kane, Jack Swagger, Big Show, Damien Sandow, Heath Slater, Curtis Axel, Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, Darren Young, Fandango, Goldust, Tyler Breeze, R-Truth and more TBA.
Looking at how this match continues to be an afterthought, I don’t even think that the winner would get a boost in his career. Cesaro got nothing after his win. Then Big Show has been floating around in nothing after his win. This should be a great chance to push one of the Wyatt Family members. Braun Strowman would be the obvious choice to win this, but I would love a huge surprise for an up-and-coming star like Tyler Breeze to win it. But as of now, it looks like it’s going to be someone from the Wyatts that will help them regain momentum.

Kickoff Pre-show: TEAM BAD & BLONDE VS TEAM TOTAL DIVAS
– Emma, Summer Rae, Lana, Naomi & Tamina vs. Paige, Natalya, Brie Bella, Alicia Fox & Eva Marie
What a mess this match is going to be. This is the attempt by the company to promote Total Divas and that will be the reason why Total Divas will win. But this match does open up some things. First, it is rumored that this will be Brie’s final match before retirement. Additionally, the return of Eva Marie is an odd choice but that hate on her by everyone might factor into this match somehow. I am also glad that Emma is back on the main roster (at least for now). Her current character is really refreshing. The match is a throwaway match to fill time but this will be Lana’s first time in the ring as a competitor. Let’s see how that will turn out.

Kickoff Pre-show: THE USOS VS THE DUDLEY BOYZ
This does not interest me one bit. The Dudleyz have gone heel but their feud with The Usos seems more of an afterthought as well. Just fill up the card with people who are healthy! I don’t feel this storyline will amount to anything in the tag team division, so I will just guess the Dudley Boyz win this but I’m not excited about this at all.

THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS VS THE NEW DAY
Oh, so the tag titles won’t be defended at all? What a load of garbage. I have no idea why they went that route but this is a big moment for the LON because to solidify them as a serious faction, they need to get this big win. They have not won the last two tag title matches so they have to win this big one. The New Day are sold as faces now and getting pummeled by the bad guys is a perfect way to do it. The League of Nations should win this.

WWE UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH
– Ryback vs. Kalisto (C)
Another storyline that does not have a great vibe to it. It’s billed as the big guy versus the little guy. Honestly, Kalisto being U.S. champ is fine but it seems so predictable that he will come through and shock the world by retaining. Ryback’s career is in a standstill and even though this is a title match, it holds little weight because of the build up and the forced heel turn. Either way, Kalisto should retain to really help his push to the top.

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE LADDER MATCH
– Dolph Ziggler vs. Sami Zayn vs. The Miz vs. Stardust vs. Sin Cara vs. Zack Ryder vs. Kevin Owens (C)
That’s right. Last year we had the exact same situation for the Intercontinental title. Although last year’s match was supposed to elevate the title to great lengths with Daniel Bryan winning, this year it’s likely here to establish the new generation. That means the only three stars that are worth considering for victory is Ziggler, Zayn and Owens. It looks like Zayn’s time in NXT is coming to an end and what better way to punctuate his arrival on the main roster than to win this match. It makes perfect sense. But maybe Zayn just is so hell-bent on screwing Owens over that Ziggler wins. I think that’s the way they will go to give Ziggler the needed major push that has been teased for so long. His career needs it. Dolph Ziggler needs this win the most.
===
CHRIS JERICHO VS AJ STYLES
This is the fourth time they’re facing off each other. Is this necessary? Nope. But the depleted roster gives us no choice. AJ Styles should win this just to build his momentum and Jericho is the kind of person to put new people over. I wish this match had a stipulation or something to give it some pizzazz. But unfortunately we are stuck with a Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull situation. Nobody wins.

WWE DIVAS TITLE TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
– Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte (C)
This match might steal the show. Three NXT alums who know each other so well and have put together some great matches in the past. This is the real “Divas Revolution” we were supposed to get. With that said, there are a few factors I will have to point out. Ric Flair is going to get involved somehow. But with Snoop Dogg’s induction to the Hall of Fame, who wouldn’t think that he will also be involved to help his cousin? Charlotte needs to drop the belt and Sasha Banks is the one to get it. I would like to think Becky should get it since she never held the NXT Women’s title, but right now, the perfect scenario should give Sasha the win and possibly one of the biggest pops of the night.

NO HOLDS BARRED STREET FIGHT
– Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar has no reason to lose this match. But Dean Ambrose is in his element. I don’t think this will further any storyline but just give us a fun match to watch with two fan favorites going at each other. The push for Ambrose is at an all-time high right now. Lesnar might be taking time off after the show so it would make sense for Dean Ambrose to win convincingly and clean. That’s how I see it going down. But expect some really daring high spots and dangerous moves in this match.

HELL IN A CELL
– Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker
Monday’s RAW episode sold this match well. In theory, Undertaker should win this match since he is the experienced veteran and he has no reason to lose to Shane McMahon. But there is that feeling that he doesn’t want to be Vince McMahon’s puppet. I think Shane will give us all the high spots and bumps we expect. I doubt Undertaker will be in his last WrestleMania, which means he will win this. But I have a feeling that Shane McMahon has some long-term plans with the company so something has to happen to allow him to have some staying power. Does Undertaker lose intentionally to give Shane the win? Doubtful. But this match needs some kind of surprise to make it interesting — like a Stone Cold interference.

WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Roman Reigns vs. Triple H (C)
This match will be huge for Roman Reigns and his supposed heel turn. In a desperate fit of rage, Reigns will cheat his way to the title. Reigns as a heel champion is the direction I see the company going and we all know Triple H has no business holding the belt that much longer. I could see possibly Roman Reigns winning by using Stephanie as a ploy to distract Triple H. It is unsure how this will turn out, but I fully expect possibly The Rock to help out his cousin in some capacity. The last time these two were together in a big match, they got booed mercilessly. Could Roman Reigns make a deal with his cousin to screw over The Authority? In any capacity, Reigns becomes champion and the entire place is furious. But that’s how I see it happening.

I hope it is a good show despite all the injuries. I will be on my Twitter live-tweeting throughout the show. Enjoy!
