Samuel Lam’s 2014 Best and Worst Dressed in sports: NFL edition

The Titans refused to wear their light blue jerseys all season long. And they also didn’t wear their light blue pants either.

Today is the final day of 2014 and after much deliberation, I’ve decided to do my annual uniform in review post. I was close to not doing this again this year because I didn’t think I had the time for it. But I have made time and there are some noteworthy uniform notes from this past year.

This is a list of strictly my opinion, so feel free to agree or disagree or just take it for what it is.

To qualify for this list, the uniform element must be a new set that debuted and was used for in-game action in 2014. That’s pretty much it. Let’s go take a look at the list for National Football League.

NFL’s Best and Worst Dressed

BEST: MIAMI DOLPHINS

For the first time in almost a decade, the Dolphins went all aqua. They teased the idea earlier in the year but they finally came through with it. I am no way a fan of monochrome, but sometimes it works out. I say this is one of the cases. The socks could use some work but other than that, it’s a refreshing change in color. I’m all for it.

HONORABLE MENTION:

BUFFALO BILLS – The color balance for the Bills really worked out when they went all mono.
TENNESSEE TITANS – They basically got rid of any jersey or pants with light blue. I actually think this was OK because I like their navy pants.

WORST: TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Wake up with the Bucs! The reflective numbers. The font. The big logo. The overall design is a mess.

HONORABLE MENTION:
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES –
Nike already messed up by not getting the green uniforms ready. Then they trot this out? Garbage!

MATCHUP OF THE YEAR: PACKERS VS BILLS (DECEMBER 14)

The mono blue by Buffalo isn’t even that great. But what made this matchup memorable for me is because of the color contrast. A team that’s white, green and yellow versus a team that’s red, white and blue. Lots of differing colors. Great visual. I’m on board.
