What’s up with the design of this Patrick Willis bobblehead?

The 49ers opened up their new store and one of the things they’re selling is this Patrick Willis bobblehead. The photo of this, provided by manufacturer Forever Collectibles, shows Willis in attack mode.

Forever Collectibles is one of the top bobblehead companies in America but unfortunately, the bobblehead of Willis feature some issues.

The main one that you probably notice are the sleeve stripes. I know that the stripes are truncated, but these aren’t even horizontal. The vertical stripes is just carelessness to detail.

My adventure at Dodger Stadium for Vin Scully bobblehead night

If you have a Vin Scully bobblead, throw it to the sky!

I have not met one baseball fan that doesn’t appreciate what Vin Scully means to the game. So when I found out the Dodgers were going to have a bobblehead day for him, I bought tickets immediately. It was something I knew I had to be a part of.

I got to the stadium really early. So early that I had to park my car near the park and wait until 4:30 for the parking gates to open up. Luckily I got there the time I did because if I had gotten there let’s say a half hour later, I would have been somewhere behind these thousand or so people.

There was yelling and pushing because when the gates opened, people that were in the back of the line that were looped around, just cut into it. Security said they couldn’t do anything and there was a lot more pushing going on. But at least for me, I got my bobbleheads easily. Two to be exact!

But other than that, it was a great experience.

Just picked up the best bobblehead giveaway this year

I didn’t go to the game yesterday to get it, but a friend who did go to the game bought it off someone for $10. These are going for about $50 on eBay right now. Sweet!

This slide to me is one of the moments that helped me become a baseball fan. I didn’t even see it live when I was a kid but thanks to all those highlight reels, it’s embedded in me.

And what makes this so cool is that it’s really three bobbleheads. I have never seen a bobblehead giveaway done so well, but here we are. It’s pretty sweet I must say. I should get it in the mail at the end of the week. Can’t wait!

What a cool bobblehead.

My Top 10 favorite facial hair athletes of all time

Tonight I’ll be heading to the Coliseum and they’re giving away a Rollie Fingers bobblehead. Fingers is known for not only being a great closer but having the coolest handlebar mustache around.

That got me thinking about my favorite athletes and their facial hair. Here’s a quick slideshow of my top ten and why I dig their style so much. (This is in no particular order.)

The Marlins’ new bobblehead museum is their coolest feature of the new ballpark

OK, we all know that the new Miami Marlins ballpark has an aquarium, a retractable roof and that funny looking home run statue. But after seeing the above video, I have come to the conclusion that their bobblehead museum is their best feature.

The display has 588 total bobbleheads and the case moves every so slightly so all the bobbleheads actually bobble. I am watching this video and I recognize about 10 bobbleheads that I own myself.

As a bobblehead guy, this just makes Marlins Park one of the must visits for me. I mean, how cool is that?

Trying to explain the booing of Joe Lacob during Chris Mullin’s jersey retirement

** If you don’t know what I am talking about, watch the video first. To preface this, I am writing this entry as a longtime fan of the Golden State Warriors. Basketball was my first love and this team was all I ever cared about when I was a little kid. All the years of frustration the fans have gone through, I understand it because I lived it with them.

The night was supposed to be a night of celebration. The Golden State Warriors were going to honor Chris Mullin by retiring his #17 jersey. It was set up to be a great event and it ended up being a fantastic celebration.

Warriors legends of the past, including teammates and coaches of Mullin, were all in attendance. Mullin’s speech was more of a tribute to the organization, his teammates and the “greatest fans” for being with him throughout his career. It was a great night until after the speech when co-owner Joe Lacob decided to speak.

This has got to be the strangest bobblehead I have ever seen

Would you want a bobblehead of the man who killed Abraham Lincoln?

I came across this story about a bobblehead that really caught my attention. Apparently a bobblehead of John Wilkes Booth (the man who killed Abraham Lincoln) was on sale for a week before getting pulled off the shelves.

Here’s the link to the story.

Obviously something like this would cause some issue as people would be sensitive about selling a doll of a man that killed the president. Do they have a Lee Harvey Oswald one?
