Remember when James Harden said that the Warriors weren’t that good? That caused a big stir during the regular season as the Warriors won all four games they had against the Rockets by double-figures. Entering this Western Conference finals, that was the talk of the series as people were reminded that Harden had dismissed the Warriors as a good team.
With the Warriors up 2-0 on the Rockets in the series, Beats By Dre released this new commercial in which a reporter mentioned the exact same scenario among (without mentioning Harden’s name) other thoughts from supposed haters of Draymond Green. In classic Beats style, Green put on his headphones and walked away from the onslaught of media questions.
The commercial takes a jab at Harden and the Rockets and with the Warriors now 6-0 against them this year, it’s just icing on the cake to a quote from months ago that is still being talked about. Green probably doesn’t care what Harden said, but for the commercial, it’s good TV to remind Harden about his foolish words.

With the NFL sealing a deal with Bose this year, it makes sense for the two companies to try to get their deal out in the forefront. In doing so, the NFL is fining any player that is seen with headphones that aren’t Bose during interviews with cameras present. In fact, the fine can be up to $10,000.
It’s a ridiculous fine but if Bose and the NFL want to help their own branding and marketing, such moves make sense. But does Bose end up getting positive PR out of this?
Many of the NFL players have already been wearing headphones by Beats By Dre. In fact, a handful of them have deals with them. So it’s a tough situation for those players. They can either wear their headphones and take the $10,000 fine. Or they can either not wear them. Or they can do what Colin Kaepernick did and put tape over the logo.
I suppose if you want to portray the image that the headphones blocks out the outside noise, it works. Although I would think that the fans (who are wearing Seattle neon green) would be a bit more civil.
But of course, you wouldn’t be selling and marketing something well if you weren’t over the top, right?
Well, at least one thing is for certain: This commercial alienates the Seattle market. But I’m sure they’ll find a way to make it up to them.
