As part of some changes to their uniform this season, the San Diego Padres revealed their Navy-inspired camouflage set. Camouflage has been a staple for Padres home games, but this time they are going with the blue route.
The wordmark is different, which is what we should expect with their white uniform set. Overall it’s an OK look but nothing too special about it. But since it’s blue, it will match well with their blue caps. Continue reading
Compared to whatever they’ve done in years past, this is not bad. The caps still have a generic design but at least the bills are all team-specific.
Is it a great design? Not really. But at least it is somewhat creative and I can’t complain too much about it. I doubt I am convinced to buy it, but at least the teams will look halfway decent when they wear it.
Just not good.
So this is how it’s going to be? The Spurs and Adidas have decided to really mess things up. They took last year’s silver alternates and have blended it with a camo print. I don’t know why they think it’s a good idea but they look terrible.
The gimmicks from Adidas need to stop. They’re making a respected organization look like a joke.
We’ll see these on Nov. 13 and one more date. Hey, at least it isn’t sleeved. Some progress? I can’t even…
Last year, MLB had teams wear a digital camouflage cap for Memorial Day and Independence Day. This year for Memorial Day, it’s a full-on camouflage.
This is the first time teams will wear an outfit like this. In years past, it was various versions of the red, white and blue colors. Last year was the first time it was a camouflage design and it appears that they’re running out of ideas. Now that the red, white and blue idea has been dried, camouflage seems to be the way to go.
This reminds me of the Padres camouflage uniform. I doubt MLB teams will have a corresponding uniform, but this is clearly an attempt to really milk out our emotions for the troops and veterans. But I will say this. Last year, all proceeds from sales went to benefit the military. If it’s the same this year, then these designs are justified.
It appears that this will only be for Memorial Day and Independence Day will likely feature another cap. We’ll just have to watch and see what happens with that design.
