Well, first of all, the video package they had couldn’t play during the reveal so that was a bummer since this is Las Vegas and putting on a good show is what the city is known for. The above is the video.
But anyway, it’s here!

We had seen the Kings logos rebrand and I thought it was OK. Now we get to see their uniforms and they still remain OK.
I don’t understand the point of two purple uniforms that look very similar. I don’t even understand the font or the over heavy balance of gray/silver to their identity. But it’s here and I just think it is more of a lateral rebrand of their identity. It’s OK.
However, the black alternates should be celebrated. If you look closely at the design, it’s supposed to mimic the city flag. OK, I can roll with that. I love the lion at the collar and the white text over black is simple with the purple trim.
Chris Creamer has a great post about the new Florida Panthers’ look. I don’t have much to say but after checking his update and looking at what the Panthers have unveiled, here are some quick thoughts.
Overall it’s a decent look but I am not jumping and celebrating it. It still feels a little plain to me and so traditional like. I guess with a previous look of a jumping panther I was hoping something would be “in-your-face” with this new look. But I don’t feel it.
We were informed in a post last week of what the Sacramento Kings’ new logo sets were going to look like. Today, we now know what the colors will be and how it will be used.
Let me say this first. The Kings have had an identity crisis for about 15 years. When they were the purple and black Kings who challenged the Lakers in the early 2000s, that was a neat identity. They tried to roll with it in the following years and had a lot of trouble establishing one whole identity. They were changing wordmarks and primary logos. They kept the same colors, but the whole identity as a mess.
Naturally since they have not established their look, making changes is easy. This is what we have now. The Kings deserve better and in an attempt to stay relevant, they have followed the trend of incorporating an old design to their identity. It’s not great but it’s what happens when a team is struggling to make an impact.
The Toronto Raptors officially unveiled their new uniform set today and it looks exactly like the leaks that we’ve seen for months. Quite frankly, these uniforms are kind of boring.
Looking at it, the identity and the presentation is very tame. There isn’t much too different in terms of the design from their last set. They still have a white, red and black alternate. They’ve also added another black alternate with gold.
One thing you will notice is that the chevrons remain but they point north, going with the “We the North” theme they have. That’s fine, but for a new set, using the same element as the old set isn’t too creative. They are also telling us that they have a “T.O.” in the shorts for Toronto. Sure.
Overall, the look isn’t too different than the old set. And it’s somewhat plain. It’s a lateral move really. It just isn’t too exciting and the Drake alternate seems way out of place. Not a great set. It’s just average.
I wouldn’t say sharp. It’s just OK.
Let me once again emphasize how much I hate sleeves on NBA uniforms.
With that said, if we ignore that element for this new set for the Hornet, we actually have a great design.
I have always liked blue and black together. Mostly a light blue and black combo is very pleasing to the eye and the use of teal and black for this Hornets set is really good. Using their “pride” nickname and having a simple design gives this alternate a very nice touch. I like the striping that crosses down the side.
For an alternate, it’s simple and even though black has never been part of the Hornets identity, it works for an alternate like this. Do they need it? No. Is it silly to have black and sleeves? Yes. But if they are going to go that route, at least they did it well.
It’s here. The 76ers have unveiled their new uniforms and it isn’t much of a drastic change from their previous ones. They have taken some elements of uniforms past and created this new identity. You can check out the gallery here.
I’ll first say that the use of “PHILA” on the front is a nice touch but I don’t like it. I always associate that with the old school and for some reason, I feel that this is forced. All other elements of the uniform look pretty nice.
For a long time we knew what the Clippers new logo would look like. The team officially unveiled the new logo and uniforms on their website. You can go onto the site and read their reasoning for their design of the logo.
Well, the logo is not great and it is exactly what we expected. But the uniforms look terrible.
The home uniform look boring and unimaginative. The road reds just look confusing. What’s with the CLA logo and the number being placed like that? It’s not good.
I have no idea who approved of this but it is clearly one of the worst, if not the worst, identities in the league.
Click the link in the tweet to see all the photos. After I saw it for the first time, I was very pleased. I actually liked their previous set but when they decided to make the change, I was afraid that it might be a change for the sake of change. But with a pretty solid logo, the uniform was created perfectly for the entire set.
The balance of green and cream white is perfect. The front and back are simple. The side piping works so well with the shorts. Additionally, their homage to their old Bucks uniforms with the rainbow panel is great. The conservative use of blue is great. Also, I like their negative space “M” on the shorts.
What makes this set so fantastic is that it’s really green. Unlike the last set with the usage of red, the cream doesn’t take away from the identity of this team. They want the focus of this set to be really green and that’s what we get. And that makes this one of the best sets in the entire league.
I like the home white a lot more and that’s probably only because the name on the front is shorter. But that’s just a small bump in what appears to be a smooth, fantastic uniform set. Well done, Bucks.
