MLB’s Asian Heritage jerseys are great but not so great

So this popped up this morning. It isn’t confirmed but let’s assume it’s real for this discussion.

MLB has already promoted Spanish-language jerseys for years. I think at least half of the teams in the league have adopted some form of it in the past 10 years. It’s great. I like it. I wish other languages would get involved.

And here it comes to this. Instead of specifically naming it Korean or Japanese heritage, it’s just straight of “Asian Heritage” to cover an entire continent. But that continent features numerous different languages.

And look at the supposed promo image. I only see Japanese and Korean. I am Chinese and want a Chinese one. Is that even an option? Chinese is pretty big if you didn’t know.

I don’t like the idea of them clumping up all of the different Asian languages into one category. But if they’re going to do it, why not even include Chinese in the promo photo?

I am hoping that they will have Chinese because I want a Chinese version for the A’s. But until we can confirm this is actually happening, it’s just speculation for now.
