I just won an eBay auction for a Catfish Hunter bobblehead. When I received it in the mail, the bobblehead was shipped in a brown paper bag.
The bobblehead came in its original box. But other than that, the entire thing was just shipped in a bag. No protection. No extra box. No packaging peanuts. Nothing.
Fortunately there was no damage, but this is the first time I have ever seen a bobblehead shipped this way. These things are fragile and can break easily if dropped once. Yet here we are.
I asked the seller about it and he said it was the norm for him. He’s shipped packages this way. He’s received bobbleheads this way. Never had anything broken.
I was really thrown off by this because this was a first for me. I always assumed that the bobbleheads would be shipped in something that would prevent damage. I’ve even done the same in boxes with packaging paper and there have been times it has broken. But to risk it like this was a shock.
I guess I should never assume people would be careful with a fragile product like this. Or maybe I should expect better.
