Is Katy Perry the best choice for the Super Bowl halftime show?

Yesterday, Page Six reported that Katy Perry is going to be the halftime show for the Super Bowl. I totally get the league’s attempt to get more contemporary artists to reach out to this generation. With Beyonce and Bruno Mars headlining the last two big games, it makes sense.

But I am not a Perry fan. I can’t even name three songs by her. I don’t think she’s that talented. She’s just very marketable. And I am sure that if the above video is any indication of what could happen, I am not a fan. But then again, it appeared that the league was looking to use a performance fee that scared some artists away.

I still thought Weird Al would have been a better choice. But I knew it wasn’t going to happen. We get Perry. Maybe it will be a good show. But I’m not holding my breath.

It just could mean that I am just getting too old.
