NHL tweets out photo of fans wearing counterfeit jerseys

NHL teams, like the Habs and Leafs, have made an effort to discourage fans from buying counterfeit jerseys. The NHL doesn’t want fans to buy the fake stuff. It takes away from their merchandise and it cheapens the product. It all makes sense.

But why would the NHL tweet a photo featuring fans wearing counterfeit jerseys?

It’s very obvious that these are not the officially licensed jerseys that the NHL sells.

Fans were quick to point this out.

Nope.
